Circle of Friends: Celebrating Life, Inc. was founded in the spirit of addressing unmet social needs. When our founding women came together more than 18 years ago, we decided to serve, educate, equip and empower women to help other women and girls. To further that commitment, we established and operated a residential, rehabilitation center for victims of child sex trafficking because at that time, there was only one safe-house for girls east of the Mississippi River. Today that has changed and with the evolving landscape, so too must our focus.
While victimized girls now have more viable refuge options, at-risk girls still lack resources to rescue them from what is often referred to as modern-day slavery before they are even lured into it. Over the course of our years in service, we've successfully identified common risk factors and threats to girls which render them vulnerable targets of sexual traffickers - pimps and predators. To that end, we now focus our efforts on preventative care - working in collaboration with community partners to rescue at-risk girls before they are ever bought or sold for the first time.
We are designing training for those in our community to be able to identify young women and girls who are at risk for sex trafficking and equip them with tools to offer treatment and care without stigmatizing or victimizing a survivor. The work that we are doing is transformational. It is rooted in education, years of direct services and aftercare experience and advocacy. We are leveraging the power of technology with unprecedented scalability, which opens access to preventative education and trauma-focused care for girls and community leaders in ways in which we've been unable to do before now. Through Circle of Friends Preventative and Protection curriculum and our newly announced Circle of Friends Impact Scholarship, we will reach even more girls and stop child sex trafficking before it even starts.
Our headquarters and presence is firmly rooted in Georgia, the home state of our legislative victory, Rachel's Law, and we are proud of that fact. We are also pleased to announce the establishment of our presence in the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area. Your continued support and partnership allows Circle of Friends to broaden its reach and its impact and help eliminate this stain on the human fabric before it can take further roots.
Our work at Circle of Friends is coming full circle, and together with you, we will stop child-sex trafficking, before it starts.
